~D & D Rockin' Rods Christmas For Kids~



EACH YEAR D & D ROCKIN' RODS takes the profits from their classic car shows to help provide families in need a Christmas to remember. The children not only receive toys but also clothes, shoes, and many special memories. The families receive household goods, special items for the parents, food and the knowledge that the children have not been forgotten during this special time of the year.

IN 2009 WE HAD THE SUPPORT of several companies and many individuals. By their giving of time and energy, and teaming with D & D Rockin' Rods for a special effort, we provided more children and families than ever a Christmas to remember. There were drop points for gift items and money from October to December. Gifts, wrapped & unwrapped, monetary contributions went to families that qualified through their school district, church or other agencies for additional help. We were able to provide for families, which included the parent(s), or other caregiver, and children. Santa made a special appearance at some of the family's doors escorted by Cruisers from all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth, North Texas area. Many children not only found Santa at the door and gifts under the tree but they had the excitement of seeing classic cars come to them! Due to the number of families adopted and time constraints some families had Christmas delivered during the week by special Santa Helpers. In addition we were able to provide Christmas for all the children at the Texas Pythian Home for Children in Weatherford, Texas.

THIS WAS OUR SEVENTH YEAR to work with the Texas Pythian Home for Children in Weatherford. A family member and her two sisters were raised at the home and this make it a very special project for D & D Rockin’ Rods. We have hosted four car shows at the home, provided Christmas gifts and needed items to the home, helped raise awareness of the home and its purpose and encouraged others to become involved with the home. Because of these efforts several people have start sponsoring children year round at the home and several people have donated quantities of items specifically for the children and the home. Santa also appeared at the Texas Pythian Home for Children on the day of our Christmas Car Show and gift delivery.

A YEAR LONG EFFORT, D & D Christmas For Kids is the driving force behind D & D Rockin' Rods Classic Car Shows. Each show contributes to a special Christmas for special families and this tradition will continue as long as possible, we want to help more families each year.

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO BECOME A D & D CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS SUPPORTER! You need not participate or attend a car show or have a classic automobile, just the desire to assist in this wonderful project. All contributions, gift or monetary, are happily accepted year round, D & D Rockin' Rods will gladly answer any questions you might have about this program. Official gift gathering is done year round and continues until December 20 each year. Volunteer shoppers and gift wrappers are always needed for those who want to help even more. Updated lists of needed items will be posted on the D & D Rockin' Rod web site during this same time period.
